May has come to an end, and what a busy month it was. The LiveWell team has been preparing for our third and final stakeholder workshop ‘Facilitating the adoption of healthy, sustainable diets in the EU.’ This will take place in Brussels 11-12 June and promises to be an exciting event – follow the proceedings on Twitter at #LWevents14!

As always, food bloggers from across the world have been busy sharing their love of anything food-related. I know it can be difficult to stay on top of what’s happening in the food world. So, here’s a summary of my favourite food blogs for May. I hope you’ll enjoy.

In Focus: sustainable healthy diets
The month of May saw the culmination of the Guardian Global Development Professional Network and Tesco’s series on sustainable diets. Here, the professional Network and Tesco explored the global challenges arising from the way shifting attitudes to food and diets. Experts from the UK government, industry and related sectors – including WWF-UK – identified areas where they could collaborate to improve the food system so that people everywhere can eat well and stay healthy, while ensuring the planet can sustain food production for generations to come.Check out ‘The live well debate: how can we provide sustainable and healthy diets for all?’. Here, David Nussbaum CEO of WWF-UK talks about LiveWell and WWF-UK’s approach to a diet that is good for people and the planet.
Fighting fat with tax

Tessa Tricks explores how robust a fat tax can be and what its limitations are, as addressed by the British Nutrition Foundations’ recent symposium ‘Food taxes – what role might they have in the battle against obesity?’ which included the recent findings by Professor Richard Tiffin and Cristopher Snowdon on this issue.

Sustainability: Food for thought

Duncan Williamson, Food Policy Manager at WWF-UK, gives WWF-UK’s perspective on the direction the Labour Party should take on food and agricultural policy: a cross-cutting, joined-up approach. WWF-UK wants healthy, sustainable food systems that bring the social, economic and environmental aspects of food and agriculture together. He writes that the food system should support farmers, as recognised by Labour in its ‘Feeding the Nation’ paper, and provide healthy, varied food that is culturally representative and allows business to thrive.
