LiveWell at Nutrition & Health Live 2013

October 21st 2013

LiveWell for LIFE was present at Nutrition & Health Live, which took place at London Olympia on 1-2 November. This was the first, largest and most comprehensive event for registered dieticians, nutritionists and all health care professionals working in the field of nutrition.

Nutrition & Health Live comprised of four parallel Conference Theatres on each of the two days, with more than 50 speakers presenting on a wide range of topics in diet, nutrition and health. On Day One, the main sessions included UK Nutrition Policy and Strategy for 2014 delivered by keynote speakers from the Department of Health, as well as heart, cancer, obesity, gut health, allergies and intolerances and a thought leadership panel on the way forward for responsible nutrition.

The conference was of particular interest to LiveWell and members of the Network of European Food Stakeholders on Day Two when there was a debate about the Eatwell Plate and other dietary models. Our very own Duncan Williamson, Food Policy Manager – WWF-UK was on the panel for this discussion. There was a review of the UK diet and current micronutrient deficiencies, and a whole day stream looking at obesity in practice with strong case study examples from around the UK.

In addition, the Business Theatre and Business Coaching Centre – running throughout both days of the event – gave nutrition and health professionals the opportunity to attend workshops and interactive sessions designed to boost their patient and media communications skills, and assist with their career progression.  One-to-one sessions were available for free with professional coaches.

This 14th annual show also included two exhibition halls with poster presentations, product and cookery demonstrations and dialogue, and resource giveaways.
