Second stakeholder workshop – Adopting healthy sustainable diets: key opportunities and barriers

On Tuesday 5 March 2013, WWF and Friends of Europe hosted the second LiveWell for LIFE stakeholder workshop. Fifty members of the Network of European Food Stakeholders – key food, environment and health stakeholders – met to discuss the challenges and opportunities of sustainable diets. Participants at the workshop aimed to reach a consensus on the key challenges and opportunities. The results of our work was presented in Adopting healthy, sustainable diets: key opportunities and barriers.

The workshop aimed to:

  • Update stakeholders on the LiveWell for LIFE project and clarify the next steps.
  • Identify, debate and explore the social and economic challenges and opportunities for the adoption of sustainable diets across the EU.
  • Reach consensus on the top 10 challenges and opportunities for adopting sustainable diets.

Participation was by invitation only, with just 50 places available. Participants included senior EU officials, government representatives, consumer and health organisations, food retailers, producers and processors, academics and NGOs.
